Angela Totman is a Certified Personal and Family Finance Educator and the co-author of Your Financial Mastery personal finance college curriculum. She has over 10 years of experience teaching and developing financial literacy resources and programs. Angela is also a featured contributor in Think and Grow Rich for Women, written by international bestselling author, Sharon Lechter, in cooperation with the Napoleon Hill Foundation.

As Vice President and COO at Pay Your Family First, Angela drives programs that change participants’ lives while nurturing partnerships with individuals and organization that share in Pay Your Family First’s passion for financial education. She participated in the development of award winning tools such as the ThriveTime for Teens board game and YOUTHpreneur BIZkit that engage participants through creative learning and instill lessons that can be immediately applied for the strengthening and improvement of families and communities.

Angela has served as adjunct faculty for Maricopa County Community Colleges as well as a guest instructor at Thunderbird School of Global Management’s Project Artemis and 10,000 Women programs in addition to instructing courses for ASU’s First Generation Scholars program. Angela is also the Director of the ThriveTime Challenge, a scholarship program that brings financial literacy directly into schools across the state of Arizona while providing resources so that those schools can continue to offer personal finance and entrepreneurship education opportunities to their students.

Angela is a graduate from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey College of Business. A longtime resident, she lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and their two children and is an active member of the community. She successfully advocated for a bill that was signed into law in June of 2013 creating greater emphasis on financial education requirements for high school graduation. Testifying in front of both the Senate and House Education Committees while working with members of the Arizona Legislature to move the bill forward, unanimous votes in favor of this bill at both committees as well as bipartisan support on the Senate floor were instrumental in effecting change that will better prepare Arizona students to make informed financial decisions.

Volunteerism is a longstanding value driving Angela’s community involvement since childhood. As a parent and youth advocate, her volunteer work includes the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix, Benchmark School, and Future Business Leaders of America. She also serves as a volunteer instructor for financial literacy programming at Madison Street Veteran’s Association’s MANA House, a transition living facility for homeless veterans. Angela served on the Compass 2015 Curriculum Committee for Paradise Valley Unified School District and in 2010 was asked to join the Business and Marketing Educators Advisory Council for the Arizona Department of Education. In 2012, Angela was honored as Business Person of the Year by Future Business Leaders of America and is a member of the Phoenix Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2013.
