I wish I could travel if...

Over the years, I've heard it all. Some are legitimate while others are excuses.

This episode comes fresh off the press to debunk the one myth I hear all the time and every time.

Welcome

The show notes for this episode will be www.TravelHackingPodast.com/16

Make sure to follow us on instagram.com/travelhacking for inspiring travel photos as well as airfare deals I see. If you're looking to travel but don't have miles or points, my instagram is where you'll want to be.

Happy Monday everyone. Feliz cinco de Mayo! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.
Thank Yous & Shout Outs

Let's begin the show with a huge thank you. As of right now, the Travel Hacking Podcast has over 50 ratings and reviews, both good and bad. I've gotten some fantastic constructive feedback and I want to personally thank you for tuning in every week.

The best part, for me at least, is when listeners reach out to me with questions or just to say hello.

So I just want to give a shout out to: Ricka Kohnstamm, Frank Pinto, Angella Welcome.

Also, thank you for the retweets: LaMesha over at twitter handle FakeFrenchGirl and Stacie Walker staciewalker

And finally, I got a comment from the Suitcase Entrepreneur, Natalie Sisson so thank you for that.

Of course, let me know if anybody has any travel question and I'll do everything in my power to help.
Question for the Listeners

I want to pose a question to everyone before we jump right into the meat of today's episode.

Based on a lot of the questions I've been receiving, I've been thinking of creating an actual course going from A-Z to cover all you need to know about travel hacking as well as how you can travel smarter.

I originally thought that by doing this podcast that it would be a great resource for everyone but it seems that you want more.

I haven't created anything yet but if you all want it, please comment below on the show notes and maybe I'll put something together as a one stop shop so let me know.

Now, before I play the music to get right into it, are you liking the music? I have no idea. I'm just doing it because it's fun but I'm not sure if the music is already getting overplayed or if you even like it at all. Again, let me know.
Travel Hacking Tips

The #1 myth on why you think you can't travel is that you don't have the money.

Let's be honest here: You would not be listening to this podcast if you didn't have money. You probably own a smart phone, a tablet, or some sort of digital device. How else are you able to access this non-syndicated content?

I'm serious, I'm laying down the gauntlet today with some tough love to get you to start thinking.

Over the weekend, I was at a bonfire for a friend's birthday and it hit me that we're almost halfway through 2014 yet it didn't feel like it.

Have you reflected on how far along you are with your goals? 99% of people have travel goals in their new years resolutions.

Have you made any plans yet? If so, that's fantastic, I couldn't be more happier for you.

If not, well let's get on it.

The travel hacking tip today is that you can counteract this myth by getting started on travel hacking, immediately.

I'm not a financial advisor or guru by any means but, what if I told you that I could help you get a free flight?

What if I told you that you can earn 1 free flight in 4 easy steps?

Here are the steps:

Check your credit with Credit Karma
Apply for a Travel Hacking Podcast recommended credit card
Make sure to hit the spending requirement within the time period
Redeem miles and points for free travel

Wrap-Up

Get educated about how your credit score works. It's easier than ever with Credit Karma.

Visit www.TravelHackingPodcast.com/TravelCards for a selection of offers. For newbies, I would highly recommend the US Airways® Premier World MasterCard® right now because you can earn 40,000 miles after your first purchase. Get it soon because no one knows how long the offer lasts with the merger going on.

Typically, I tell all of my friends to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred card for the 40,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months.

Hands down, frequent flyer promotions via travel cards are the fastest way to earn miles.

You know your finances best so if you know you have expenses of about $3,000 in 3 months, which is $1,000/month, then make your everyday expenses work for you by taking advantage.

I'm all about helping you earn 1 free flight this year because, from that 1 flight, inspires 1 great trip for you, and plants the seeds for making the travel hacking lifestyle a much more regular thing for you.

It's worth it. If you don't want to keep the card beyond the year where you get the annual fee waived, just cancel. If you're worried about having debt, then make sure you spend within your means and pay your cards off in full.

Last Friday's episode with Alex de Frondeville was a fantastic real world example of how one person was able to make it happen not only for himself but for his family. Notice how he and I geeked out about it?

That, my friend, can be you too.

I hope you enjoyed today's episode.

As always, have a great day and I'll catch you Wednesday.

Cheers.
