So what if you don't have any miles or points? Are you just SOL?

Well, there's always the traditional way, which is paying for flights. Here are some tips to save money when booking flights without frequent flyer miles or points.

Before we get started, to show you that I literally record and publish my episodes within the day, I wanted to begin today with a few topical things.

I'm a huge basketball fan and the NBA playoffs have been amazing so far, now that we're a week in. There have been so many late game situations and overtime scenarios that definitely keep me at the edge of my seat.

So, how about them Clippers? What's crazy about that situation is that Donald Sterling is such a high profile figure in Los Angeles and within the business community. For something like the statements he's made to come out, it's just a very sad situation for those associated with the Clipper organization and brand.

With that being said, I certainly feel strongly about how this situation relates to travel because wherever you go, despite our differences, we are all one people. What's crazy is how some people still hang on to the view that it is okay to feel dislike for someone based on their outside characteristics rather than the content of their character.

As the host of this show and a shameless promoter of all things travel related, I hope that the big take away here is to let go of your boundaries and barriers, travel the world, and see it for what it really is because at the end, we are all human with the same needs, wants, desires and dreams.
Travel Hacking Tips in 90 Seconds or Less

To add on to episode 10, the best way to hack travel in finding affordable and reasonable airfare tickets is to book for dates that are traditionally low season.

Here are a list of times of the year that I've consistently found great deals:

The two weeks right before Valentines Day
Right after Valentine's Day up to Memorial Day weekend
Early to mid August before Labor day weekend
Immediately after Labor day weekend and before Halloween
First half of November
First half of December

Key reference points to consider:

Round trip domestically from the West coast to the East coast is usually around $300 to $400. If you can find a booking around that price range (including as high as $450), you got yourself a great deal.
Round trip internationally to Asia, South America, and Europe, can reasonably be booked for under $900.

Keep in mind that weather can play a factor in your decision but don't allow it to be your limiting factor and definitely don't let that ruin your parade! I would avoid places that have hurricane or typhoon season but, a little bit of rain or snow in Europe really isn't so bad and, more often than not, you'll end up having a great time depending on the group you're with.

Also, if you're more of the worry type, get trip cancellation insurance. United has Trip protection just for a few extra bucks. It'll be worth it for the added peace of mind considering you saved a bunch off the airfare anyway.

And finally, use the flexible calendar feature in your searches. It's a great way to just see what the market looks like and, chances are, if the price is right, you'll be much more excited to go.

Shout out to my friends in the bay area, here's a deal to Hong Kong.

Fantastic deal from Florida to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Where are you flying from? Maybe I can help you find some affordable flights and pretty soon, you'll be on your way to paradise.

Have a great Wednesday everybody!
