Episode #09: Friends

August 03, 2016

This weeks features our first ever ~panel of experts~ as co-pilots Rachel AND Jessica join me to talk about everybody's favorite sitcom, FRIENDS. A nice change of pace from the previous weeks' longwinded, denser episodes, we tackle the 'critical' questions of a truly comforting and feel-good show such as: Who is the main character of Friends? Who is the villain? Is How I Met Your Mother a better or worse version of this show? What is honestly the deal with Phoebe? And more!  If you have questions, comments, or feedback, OR if you'd like to suggest a show or come in as a co-pilot, please feel free to write to thisisyourpilotpodcast@gmail.com twitter: @yrpilotpodcast // @hauntologies BONUS: This week's Test Pilot segment takes a look an Amazon Studio's production, Red Oaks. Set in the 1980's, and suitably retro in visual style, Red Oaks' pilot introduces the baby-faced, somewhat timid David, a college student who landed a gig teaching tennis at an upscale, exclusive country club in order to push off the looming promise of going to work for his father as an accountant. The show is pleasant combination of other vintage-feeling teen comedies such as Dazed and Confused, That '70s Show, Wet Hot American Summer, and Varsity Blues, with a fair amount of tennis thrown in! While not uproariously funny, considering this show has a confirmed second season coming out later this year and is only 30 minutes per episode, I'd say its definitely a low-impact yet still pretty amusing show to check out.
