For the next two weeks TIYPS will become a ~family affair~ as I have my own dad/vigilant TV consumer Peter Masi on as my co-pilot to discuss the quintessentially 80s cop show MIAMI VICE. This episode provides a solid outline for the cultural currency that the show carried, explained from the perspective of someone who lived through the decade and watched the show in real time. Miami Vice created such a singular, decade defining aesthetic that its contributions to fashion, music, and new cultural perceptions of urban spaces alone make it feel immediately significant, even after watching it again in 2016.
