I'm still watching the first season of the series with fresh eyes, but fortunately for everybody involved, Owen is much more well-versed in both this pilot episode and the consequent two seasons. Nonetheless, we both are able to speak to the unique elements of black comedy, philosophical underpinnings, and strains midwestern violence that translate quite fluidly between both the Coen Bro's original film and this first episode.
