Look &/or listen as my guest, photographer Lisa Arnold, tells the story of her camera!

Though she didn’t keep her very 1st camera, a cheap, returned item, she shared the magic that happened when she took a photo of herself with it at the age of 17. She didn’t know a thing about photography then, but when she got the print back from the photoshop she became fascinated with the concepts of beauty & perception and how photography could both capture & change them. It was then that she started to fall in love with the artistry of photography.

She realized back then that she didn’t really see herself. She certainly didn’t see herself as others saw her. Lisa remembers studying that photo and for the first time thinking “I’m not as weird looking as I thought I was”…. most of us don’t see ourselves the way others see us… especially those who love us. We all have insecurities… under Lisa’s guidance, warmth & eyes she helps her clients embrace & celebrate their intrinsic beauty.

Her work is so intimate. It’s such an honor to be invited into her clients lives in order to reflect their beauty back to them. She shows her clients what she sees in them & what others see in them too… THIS is what Lisa was born to do! Through her portrait photography she does her important healing work in the world.

The beauty she first saw in herself at 17 years old started her on the journey to reveal this beauty in others. And these legacy photos aren’t just photos, they are testaments to her clients journey to seeing themselves & embracing their real beauty. It’s the story these photos tell that truly is the legacy that is left behind. It is how the clients feels about herself during & after the session, when she sees these photos & how her family & friends experience them. Her legacy…. their legacy & Lisa’s too.

Lisa’s great niece will inherit her camera & photography equipment! She sees her camera as a tool, but much more then that it is a way of looking at the world. She hopes her niece finds a way to express herself & perhaps she too will decide to reflect others beauty back to them. It’s sacred this work… Lisa echoes what Don Draper said in Madmen… images can bring us places… they can bring us back to the place, the feelings, the awe or the fear… they are time capsules.
