David Katz: Solving Our Plastic Pollution Problem & Poverty

April 11, 2015

The future may indeed be in plastics.  David Katz is the founder and CEO of The Plastic Bank, an ambitious social enterprise that aims to solve the plastic pollution problem and poverty at the same time.

The Plastic Bank provides an opportunity for the world’s poor to collect and trade plastic waste as a currency. That's right.  Plastic waste found at beaches and other waterways is turned into a source of income for our world's most marginalized citizens.  What's more, plastic collectors can get access to 3D printers creating entrepreneurial opportunities.

Today David Katz, who is the President of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (E.O.) Vancouver Chapter and recent winner of the organization's Global Citizen Award, will share his inspiration for reducing global poverty and stopping plastic from entering our oceans.
