In this episode, legendary chaplain Rev. Earl Smith talks with Host Tom Loarie about his life-changing experiences and what matters most in life. Earl Smith is the youngest person ever to be hired (in 1983, at the age of 27) to serve hardened Death Row inmates at notorious, maximum security San Quentin prison. He's still serving Death Row inmates there -- more than 38 years!

He's also the long-time, much-praised chaplain for several Pro sports teams, including the San Francisco 49ers and the Golden State Warriors. Rev. Smith is often asked to appear on radio and TV shows, including CNN, CBS Morning News, HBO, The Discovery Channel, The History Channel and more. He's been featured in Newsweek, Ebony, Christianity Today, Time magazine, People's Weekly, Guidepost, The African Americans and many more.

In 2020, Chaplain Smith was named "National Correctional Chaplain of the Year." He was awarded two Angel awards for excellence in Media, to name just a few of many honors received.

But Earl Smith sure didn't start out as chaplain material! In fact, raised in the town of Stockton, California, he spent his teen years honing his criminal drug activity....until one day he found himself alone and on the ground, having been shot six times and left to die. His father, a preacher and pastor prayed and loved him back to life in the hospital and prophetically told Earl: "You are a rebel, but you are God's rebel and he's going to use you to his glory."
