Angela Moyra and Roopa Vasudevan on The Manny Faces Show

November 06, 2014

I have a special place in my heart for those who risk it all to pursure their dreams. The talent has to be there of course, or the potential for fame can quickly turn into the reality of folly. But there are those special few who posess the talent, but also that unquantifiable x-factor, that star quality, that shines early, and brightens quickly. Angela Moyra has recently moved to the United States from The Netherlands, re-releasing her debut album "Fickle Island" for American ears, and jumping right into the game, performing in places like New York City, Los Angeles and her new home, San Francisco. Her music can be described with a plethora of cliché-sounding, but very applicable adjectives… lovely, feel-good music, thoughtful lyrics… her demeanor is nothing short of charming, her smile infectious… her voice, soothing… Her story, inspiring. Her path, just beginning.

Roopa Vasudevan is a very smart, very creative and very busy woman. Her work encompasses several disciplines, each aspect more interesting than the next, as she has found, on more than one occasion, brilliant ways to use technology to translate interesting concepts into poignant, visual creations. Catching up with her was difficult, as she was scrambling from city to city setting up her newest exhibition, Grillz, but Roopa and I finally got to have a conversation.

Lastly, I wanted to make sure new listeners knew where we began, and so I broadcast a portion of my inaugural conversation, with the amazing DJ Natasha Diggs. Check it out, and go back to the first episode if you want to hear the entire thing!
