Kathleen McDermott is an artist that experiments with the internet of things and wearables to hack the human relationship with urban space.  Her recent project, Urban Armor, explores absurdity, humor, and the brusque in how people relate to one another in cities.  In one piece, a dress expands in response too close a contact with another, and in a different piece a scarf automatically covers the wearers mouth and nose when a smoker is nearby.
