Creating Community | Jordan Griffin

February 27, 2014

“Behind every small business, there’s a story worth knowing. All the corner shops in our towns and cities, the restaurants, cleaners, gyms, hair salons, hardware stores – these didn’t come out of nowhere.” – Paul Ryan (R-WI 1st District)

This week we met a man helping local businesses tell their story, Jordan Griffin from Get Local AZ stopped by the ChromisCast studios. We learn about he uses social media to help tell those stories, why creating community is so important to him, and why he hopes to someday change the cultural landscape of how Arizonans shop and spend.

Other quotes from today’s show:

“When you buy from a small mom or pop business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom or dad put food on the table, a family pay a mortgage, or a student pay for college. Our customers are our shareholders and they are the ones we strive to make happy. Thank you for supporting Small Businesses!” – unknown

“Most small business owners are not particularly sophisticated business people. That’s not a criticism; they’re passionate about cutting hair or cooking food, and that’s why they got in the business, not because they have an MBA.” – Andrew Mason CEO, Groupon
