Episode 216: Midnight Mass

April 15, 2022

Hey film buds,

this weekend is a big one for the religiously inclined. Friday, April 15, marks the beginning of the Jewish celebration Passover, while Sunday is Easter Sunday. But, with Religious Horror as our theme, we decided it was as good a time as any to review Mike Flanagan's Netflix Original Midnight Mass.

Introduction - 00:00

Exposure to Catholicism, Catholicism in Media, and Paul (badly) Explains Catholicism - 02:17

Midnight Mass Discussion & Review - 27:50

Midnight Mass actually takes place during the Easter season. We'll be talking about Catholicism in Horror, Flanagan's reverence for Stephen King, and the show's core themes. Who knows. We may even find some time to get a review in.

Beyond that, we'll be talking about the new Stranger Things 4 trailer, David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future and Cannes Film Festival, and more.

Stranger Things 4 Trailer, Cannes Film Festival news, Frank Langella Exiting The Fall of the House of Usher, and more - 01:06:50

If you haven't already, be sure to check out last week's episode and our latest Buds Being Buds, where we talk Everything Everywhere All at Once and Ambulance.

Thanks y'all,
