The Crisis in Haiti

July 13, 2021

Last Wednesday the president of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse was killed when a group of assassins forced their way into his home. Moïse was shot 12 times. His wife was also shot but she survived. In the aftermath of the assassination, the levels of dysfunction and crisis in Haiti are beginning to cascade before the eyes of the world. There is no convenient or easy solution for Haiti and it is likely that things are about to get much worse, not better.

This podcast episode looks at the crisis in Haiti. JB Shreve considers the calls for aid, the postures and fears of the US government, and also the motives of leaders in Haiti who are making the bizarre request for US troops in that nation.

There is a wide gap between the public statements and postures regarding the crisis in Haiti and simple common sense. This podcast aims to shed light on that gap through a quick overview of the history of Haiti so that you can better grasp the crisis in Haiti today.
