She herself has paraded in Rio Carnaval many times, with escolas such as Mangueira, Estácio de Sá, União da Ilha, and Viradouro.  Ana has spent over twenty five years teaching samba throughout the U.S, as well as in Australia, Japan, and Europe. Her teaching methodology integrates her life experiences with samba and her psychology background, providing a space for people to develop their knowledge and understanding of the Brazilian culture, and to reconnect with their body, mind and soul. Based out of Los Angeles, California,  she is the founder of the groups Samba N’Motion and Malandro N’ Motion. Ana is also one of the co-founders of the International Samba Congress, the biggest celebration of samba outside of Brazil. This project has also hosted events in Europe and Australia, Brazil, as well as virtual events. She has also started an online interview session called Bate-papo de Malandro, where she interviews artists in the samba/Brazilian music community.  This event is now being held virtually over two weekends, Nov 5th-7th and Nov. 12th-14th.Links:International Samba Congress website.
