An icon of the West Australian hospitality scene, Jerry Fraser has shucked an estimated 7,000,000 oysters across 5 decades and 4 continents, but when it comes to molluscs, he’s definitely all about quality over quantity.
Born in Scotland, raised in South America, and worked across the U.S. Europe and Asia-Pacific, Jerry has shucked for Hollywood A-listers, and senior members of the British royal family, but is just as happy sharing his trademark banter with his fanbase at any one of his 7 current Perth bar and restaurant residencies.
I first met Jerry in 2014 at Print Hall, where he was instrumental in the design of their purpose-built oyster bar. Since then I’ve bumped into him in various venues across Perth, and recently I had the pleasure of DJing alongside him, as we both held residencies at The Beach Club in Cottesloe during the summer of 2018/19.
As you might expect it’s been an interesting journey, so jump in and discover some of Jerry’s pearls of wisdom.
