The Wondergroove Podcast - How to Succeed in Show Business and in Life

#10 – William Thomas Evans, Broadway and TV Actor: “No” is not a bad thing…

October 25, 2016

Episode #10 -
William Thomas Evans and I connected for a truly insightful conversation on the inner workings of showbiz.  As an original cast member of three Broadway shows (Camelot, The Scarlet Pimpernel, A Tale of Two Cities), Bill knows all about the NYC scene and what it takes to make it.  After two seasons on the Amazon original television series, Alpha House, he went on the road with the most recent national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and is now appearing in BAZ - Star Crossed Love on the Las Vegas strip.

Bill has a very relaxed and matter-of-fact view of show business.  I would say he exudes the qualities of what many would refer to as "a natural".  We can learn a lot from that attitude.  We often make show business more complicated than it needs to be.  Bill has a way of simply stating, "This is how it works.  Know that, and act accordingly."  I'm a big fan of that approach.  Bill's long acting career is the proof in the pudding.  We uncovered countless pearls of wisdom during our conversation.  Here are a few of them:

The ins and outs of a life in New York City. The Fair Wage Onstage Movement. The importance of knowing your type. Working your way into the New York audition scene. How he booked his role on Alpha House. Why "No" isn't a bad thing. Keeping your eye on the coming trends in the industry. The disconnect between academia and the professional world, and much more.

Enjoy and learn as much as you can from my conversation with William Thomas Evans!
