Under Pressure! New Years Noise…

January 26, 2022

Well, it’s the end of January. Research tells us “resolutions” don’t last. How are you doing? It’s okay to update and change your goals.

Amy & Laura understand the frustration this time of year. We are fed up with the ads making us feel pressure to make changes to our lifestyle.

Fun Stats about NY resolutions:

  1. Of those who make them, after 1 week 75% are still successful in keeping them.
  2. After two weeks, this number drops to 71%.
  3. After 1 month, this number drops again to 64%.
  4. After 6 months, a little less than half of the people who make a NY resolution are successful in keeping it.
  5. The most popular resolution is to eat healthier, no surprise. A little under half of Americans make this resolution every year.  This is followed by exercising more.
  6. Only 16% of people in a 2018 survey wanted to quit smoking, which was once the most popular resolution ever.

Why aren’t people successful with their resolutions?

  1. In one 2014 study, 35% of participants who failed their New Year’s Resolutions said they had unrealistic goals.
  2. 33% of participants who failed didn’t keep track of their progress.
  3. 23% forgot about their resolutions.
  4. About one in 10 people who failed said they made too many resolutions
