Intubation Mouthguard by the Army’s Institute of Surgical Research

August 25, 2017

The Army’s Institute of Surgical Research has developed a patent-pending intubation mouthguard, which secures endotracheal tubes using an adjustable attachment rail that protects a burn patient’s facial tissue.
The device also provides improved protection of a patient’s teeth by shifting the load from vulnerable incisors to the more robust molars using rear bite blocks. The mouthguard also delivers better mouth access, making it easier to work.
The Army Medical Research and Materiel Command seeks partners to license the design for commercialization.
The device has potential for sales to both civilian and military customers. Interested parties can contact TechLink to learn more about this opportunity and receive no-cost licensing assistance.
