17: Health Is Wealth | 5 Ways To Improve Your Health Starting Today

Because we know sometimes as creatives we are focusing on deadlines and working on the next creation, and our health is the last thing on the plate. But at the end of the day, if we want to keep going strong its something we need to put high on the list. Because Health Is Wealth!
 

* Drink water!

 
If I had a dollar for every time I heard my mom tell me that! But at the end of the day she’s right, it’s a absolute must for survival. Although you can go 3 weeks without food, try only 3 days without water.

* Shoot for somewhere between one-third to one-half of your body weight in ounces.  For example, If you weigh 150 pounds, you should be drinking between 50 and 75 ounces of water per day.
* Be sure to use as clean a source as possible, so use a filter on your home faucets. Or my wife just picked up a pitcher with a filter in it for like $15, works great.

 

* Plan to eat 5-6 times per day, which equates to every 2-3 hours.

 

* This will naturally reduce your portion sizes and stimulate your metabolism.
* Think of your metabolism as a fire.  You want to feed your fire small amounts of wood often to keep it burning hot (which means you’re burning more calories at rest).  If you place a large log (large meal) in the fire, it will smolder and take a long time to burn.

 

* Eat whole foods.

* MSG causes hyperstimulation of the nervous system, leading to headaches, anxiety and poor concentration.
* And if you can, stay away from processed foods, the manufacturing process takes a lot of the nutrients out.

 

* Exercise… Ease into it if you have to

* I don’t want to hear that you don’t have time to exercise. Why? Because I had the same excuse, but what I found out was that there is more than enough time to get at least the minimum done.
* Now, the recommended amount of exercise to get each week is 150 minutes or 30 minutes 5 days a week. The crazy thing is you don’t have to jump out and try and do 150 minutes week one, that’s almost always the recipe for failure. When I said ease into it, it’s as easy as walking 5 minutes a day and adding 5 more minutes each week. In a couple months, you will be hitting the goal!

 

* Stay connected with people

* We weren’t put here to be alone, even God had to give Adam somebody.
* Stay connected with friends and expand your social circles, the studies that have been done shows it leads to better health.
* But make sure it’s with people you really like so that way everyone wins.

 
Now I just thought I would throw this in there I’m not a health addict and don’t know it all, just passing on a few of the things I’m learning as I go. So with that being said.
One thing to remember style nation, health is achieved one habit at a time. Slow and steady truly does win this race. It’s said that it takes 21 days to break a habit, so with a little time, those mountains will seem to turn into mole hills.
