11: INSPIRATION TUESDAY | Are You Get Cooked in The Squat

May 31, 2017

Today’s Inspiration Tuesday we are talking about getting cooked in the squat.

In the story, there was a cook who was making dinner for the family. A neighborhood kid was over for dinner and happened to be in the kitchen when she was finishing the biscuits. When she pulled the biscuits out the oven the kid noticed that some of the biscuits were flat. He asked the cook what happened to them and the cook laughed and said “Well, those biscuits squatted to rise, but they just got cooked in the squat.”

If we look closely, we see people who have gotten cooked in the squat all the time. You know, the ones who say once I gather all the information I need they I’ll start. But then weeks and months go by and then that idea fades away. I was that guy once.

Sometimes that acceptable illusion of “Still getting ready” can rob us of ever knowing what could have been. Because you’ll look up and 7 years have gone by and when people ask what ever happened to that fashion thing you were gonna do, and all you can say is I don’t know.

The truth is you won’t ever have enough information, and will always be learning as you go.

See, even if you can only see 10 feet in front of you in the fog, you don’t have to stand there until it all goes away. Just walk the 10 feet and then you will be able to see 10 more feet.

The designer learns while making the designs, getting rejected, going to fabric shops, manufacturers, and fashion shows.

The model learns by going to classes, making sure they keep their bodies right, and going to auditions.

Neither gets where they want to go, by searching the internet, reading the books and just watching others doing what they want to be doing. Just get out there.

Style Nation, don’t get cooked in the squat! Don’t just do all the pre-work and cross referencing and facts, before you start. Samuel Jackson said it best “Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.”
