3: Inspiration Tuesday | Who Are You Spending Your Time With?

May 01, 2017

Who Are You Spending Your Time With? And Is That Ok?
I was sitting down talking with a cousin of mine a few days ago and we sat there for a couple hours talking about the many people we knew who because of bad decisions are either no longer here or in the street or in jail.

One of the common things I realize that kept coming up as we talked, was who they were hanging around kept coming up.

Matter of fact, one the guys that he brought up, got 20 years in jail for robbing a dry cleaners for what he told the judge was for new clothes. My cousin said he was a good guy but senior year he started hanging with a different crowd. Tragic.

Jim Rohn said “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

If you think about the quote, it’s true. Because you’re probably spending your money on the same type of things or investing around the same things.

The reason this quote is great is because it can easily be measured.

If all you do is play video games chances are most of the people you hang around do as well.

If you surround yourself with people who are pessimistic who bring you down or don’t want you to succeed. Then you’ll feel and you’ll be negative, you won’t feel the need to measure yourself to see if you’re getting better. Therefore, not living the life you want to live.

On the other hand if you surround yourself with people who push you and or succeeding and want to make you better. You’ll accomplish a lot more and be moving in the direction you want to be going.

It’s like when you’re in gym. If you’re trying to gain muscle mass you’re not going to be lifting the same weight every day that you started with two months ago. You have to constantly add the pressure of more weight and resistance and out of that struggle and pain comes the results.

One thing I would like to bring out is that it’s more easily to be influenced by the people who arent doing much, and don’t want to see you doing much either.

Misery loves company, and if you’re not careful you’ll find yourself being one of those crabs in the bucket being the very person you don’t want to be, and holding others back by pulling them down.

So style nation take a look at your goals and dreams. Are The people you spend the most time with bringing you closer or pulling you farther away?
