Bonus Q&A

Every person that we interview on The Super Strength Show has an opportunity to answer some extra questions that aren’t asked in the podcast. It’s a chance for our listeners to learn a little bit more about our guests and to get even more value from our show. Check out Travis Stoetzel’s answers below!

Can you share one of your habits that contribute to your success in the gym? Visualize your success. See it in your mind first and then make it a reality. This can be done for IN the gym and OUT.

What are your favourite exercises? Snatch, Clean and Jerk, Muscle Ups, and of course, the DEADLIFT.

What are your favourite muscle groups to train? Don’t train muscle groups – I train my body as a UNIT. I can’t remember the last time I trained for just one specific body part.

What are your favourite pieces of equipment? The barbell will always be king. Kettlebells and Sandbags are great as well.

What is currently on your workout music playlist? I’ve always got a mix of some sort of heavy metal, rap, and a little bit of dub step in there for good measure. Anything with a beat. If I’m going for a PR, it’s got to be Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, or Rob Zombie.

How do you psych up for a workout or set? Visualize in my head what I’m about to do. I used to scream and yell but now I keep focused and calm and just do it. Oh and I make sure I to get myself PISSED off at the bar.

What was one exercise or routine that gave you great gains in muscle mass and/or strength? I’ve always gotten great results from the clean and press. Whether this be with a barbell or set of KB’s or even DB’s, you can’t beat that. Supersetting that with some pull ups is one of the best set ups you could have. I also saw a TON of success doing German Volume Training when I was younger. Now it’s all athletic based performance training.

What’s your favourite way to speed up recovery between workouts? HYDRATE, SLEEP, NUTRITION.Combine them all for BEST results.

What’s your favourite meal? Bone In “Cowboy” Ribeye with sweet potatoe, mushrooms, and baked mac and cheese. Finish it off with a big slice of chocolate cake.

What’s your favourite cheat meal and how often do you indulge? Sweets are my enemy. A BIG bowl of ice cream topped with whatever. Not too often – at least 1-2 times a week.

What supplements do you feel work well for you? Creatine, BCAA’s, Greens, Vitargo, Whey protein. Only the basics.

What do you do to relax? Family time. UNPLUG from the world and focus on my wife and baby girl.
