Bonus Q&A

Every person that we interview on The Super Strength Show has an opportunity to answer some extra questions that aren’t asked in the podcast. It’s a chance for our listeners to learn a little bit more about our guests and to get even more value from our show. Check out “The Machine’s” answers below!

Can you share one of your habits that contribute to your success in the gym? CARE, actually care about your clients. Over deliver to them. They are the reason I am able to live my dream and do what I love.

What are your favourite exercises? Working my neck, Conventional Deadlift, Hack Squats, Barbell Shrugs, Pull-ups, Dips on the dip bars, weighted sit-ups/weighted leg raises & Airdyne Bike.

What are your favourite muscle groups to train? Neck, Traps, Abdominals

What are your favourite pieces of equipment? The Neck Flex Machine, Hack Squat machine, Power rack, Heavy duty wrist roller, S-cube bar.

What is currently on your workout music playlist? Mushroomhead, Godsmack, Disturbed, Rammstein, Korn, DMX, Fear Factory, Rob Zombie, Disciple, Pillar, Newsboys, RED.

How do you psych up for a workout or set? I put on a song then really motivates me and I tell myself of positive things then get after it.

What was one exercise or routine that gave you great gains in muscle mass and/or strength? I was on a mission to pull a personal best in the Deadlift. I was using a program where I would pull in the conventional stance for 3 sets of 3 reps on Wednesday. Once I could pull the 3×3 with a set weight I would then increase the weight by 5-10lbs and repeat the process again. Then on Saturday I would pull using a deficit, meaning that I would pull from the floor while standing on a 4″ block. I would pull for 3×5. After that I would perform a toped deadliest out of the rack where I would either do 3×3 or pull for 5 singles. This worked wonders for me and I was able to pull my best deadlift of 665 at 198 bodyweight. Here is a video of the top end deadlift with 695lbs for a single: Click here to check out Mike’s Deadlift

What’s your favourite way to speed up recovery between workouts? I drink Chocoalte Milk right after my workout, I roll out using the foam rollers, I also stretch after my workout before the rolling out, I use a horse ligament called Bigeloil (I don’t recommend this to just anyone) I also think highly of USPLABS product called Super Cissus as a pain reliever.

What’s your favourite meal? Eggs, bacon, two pieces of toast with honey/butter.

What’s your favourite cheat meal and how often do you indulge? I love ice cream, either Graters or Ben and Jerry. I also cheat on the weekend, usually Saturday night. I then eat clean the rest of the week.

What supplements do you feel work well for you? I feel all the good supplements have been taken off the market. It is a billion dollar industry and to find something that actually works is like pulling teeth. I do like USPLABS Super Cissus. I also used to like Jacked from USPLABS but that formula does not seem to be like it was when it first came out.

What do you do to relax? Spend time with my wife and dogs, draw, watch a movie.
