04-19-15 “Heaven Is Not My Home: Part 2 in a Series” The Rev. Alfred T. K. Zadig, Jr.
“I got shoes, you got shoes, all of God's childrens got shoes-
When I get to heaven gonna put on my shoes
I'm gonna walk all over God's heaven (heaven) heaven (heaven)-
Everybody talkin' bout heaven ain't a goin' there heaven (heaven) heaven (heaven)…”
-African Spiritual
Well, It’s just not fair. As we continue this Easter sermon series on Heaven, the Rev. David Booman gets to preach on what heaven will be like (next week) and I have been assigned ‘who get’s in’! I think I received the raw end of the deal. Thankfully as clergy we are the mailmen and not the author or editor of the message of Jesus, and thankfully while the Bible is pretty clear on this subject, it is also the most inclusive! The joy of heaven is meant for all, yet why does Jesus also say “strive to enter through the narrow door?”
