Using Our Words Aright; You Get What You Say!
Hello, and welcome to this episode of The Speak Life Today Podcast. I’m your host, Felton Thompkins, Gospel Minister and Ambassador for Jesus Christ our Lord. On this episode of The Speak Life Today Podcast, we will talk about the importance of using our words aright. And if you have been following this Podcast you have heard me mention, how, that long ago, God the Holy Spirit convinced me of the importance of using our word in a correct manner.
Listen, beloved, from the beginning of the Holy Scripture to the end of the Holy Scriptures, God is commanding us, instructing us, reproving us, and encouraging us, to use our words aright. But I’m here to tell you that not many of us are truly taking God at his word when he tells us that” Death and Life are in the power of the tongue… Proverbs 18:21 and as I’m sure you know that’s our life verse for the Speak Life Today Podcast.
Seriously saints we must begin to reevaluate the way that we have been using our speech and stop seeing the Word of God as though the scriptures are a bunch of cute sayings that we carelessly toss around to portray how spiritual we are. And to be quite honest with you brothers and sisters in Christ, it is sometimes very hard to distinguish the believer from the unbeliever by the words that comes out of our mouths. I mean really saints of God, we sometimes hear more profane language coming out of the mouths of those of us who profess to be followers of The Lord Jesus, than that of the unbeliever. Beloved of God, this should not be.
Now, do you think that I said all of that to convince you that the things that I say, and the way that I say them are always aright? And that everything that comes out of my mouth rejoices the heart of God? Beloved, the answer to that, is a big No! But here’s what I do… “forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus my Lord and Savior”. Listen, this is the attitude that we must take or adopt in every area of our Christian walk of faith. And especially when it comes to growth and maturity as a believer and follower of The Lord Jesus.
Let me take a moment to digress here, because some of you, that may be listening may have heard me say this in the introduction episode of the Speak Life Today Podcast. And it’s, how God The Father spoke to me these words…  He said to me, Felton, you know where the Bible says that my word will not return onto me void? I said yes. And God went on to say that, Well, Felton you are my son, and you are made in my image, So, your words won’t return to you void either. Wow! I can still remember that as though it was yesterday.
I mentioned earlier how God from the beginning of the holy scripture to the end of the holy scripture, wants us to see and understand the significance of using our words aright and the power that our words, truly have.
With that being said, Let’s take short journey through the Word of God, that we may discover some truths to help us to get our speech in line with our Heavenly Father’s. And there’s no better place to start than at the beginning. Come with me if you will to the book of Genesis, and I’ll began reading in chapter 1 and in verse 1 and it reads… In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Hmmmmm, I wonder how He did that? Let’s read on a little further, maybe we can find out. Genesis 1:2 goes on to say… And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved or hovered upon the face of the waters. Now, let’s skip on down to Genesis 1:6-10 and it reads… And God said, let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. v.7 And God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmame
