Anthony faced a magistrates court on Tuesday, where he denied the assault charge.Anthony told police that Cherry had too much to drink and fell backwards, hitting her head.

Prosecutors claim Anthony’s version of events was indeed totally inconsistent. For example, Anthony failed to give any reason that Cherry had a massive lump on her forehead. The lump was the size of a golf ball.

The court heard how Cherry’s daughter, 19-year-old daughter Angela, who previously lived with the couple, said she saw multiple examples of domestic violence.

Anthony denied this, saying his stepdaughter was looking for someone to blame.

Anthony’s charges changed from assault to upgrading of murder.
