Evangelism Is...Being Yourself, Part 4 (The Soul-Winning Motivator #58) #VA4

August 24, 2015

Our soul winning verse from the Word of God today is John 10:16 which reads: "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."

Our soul winning quote today is from Vance Havner. He said: "It is not our business to make the message acceptable, but to make it available. We are not to see that they like it, but that they get it."

Our soul winning devotional is part 41 of our series titled "What Evangelism Is" from Dave Earley and David Wheeler.

Evangelism Is...Being Yourself

You've Got Style
So far we have discussed personality types and spiritual gifts. There also is the matter of style. When you read the New Testament, you will see that different people had different styles when it came to bringing people to Christ.

Peter was an out-there, up-front type of guy. He was bold and brash and preached to a huge crowd. Andrew was more of a behind-the-scenes, quiet type. He consistently brought people to Jesus. Jesus' friend Mary served. She cooked the meals and cleaned up the messes. Matthew knew a lot of people and threw great parties. He invited sinners for dinner with Jesus. Paul was well educated, extremely intelligent, and an excellent teacher. He lectured in classrooms and synagogues. The apostle John had a huge heart. He really loved people and repeatedly spoke to them of the love of God. James, the half brother of Jesus and pastor of the church in Jerusalem, was said to have "camel's knees" because he spent hours on his knees praying for others.

What style is the right style? The one you will use.

Do It!
Everyone is called to evangelize, but too often we get the idea that we have to do it a certain way or not do it at all. There is more than one way to share the gospel. The best way is the one that fits your personality, your giftedness, and your style. If you aren't sure which way best fits you, try them all!

In our next broadcast, we will look at why evangelism is...a lifestyle.
