Ten Reasons to Plant a Church, Part 3 (The Soul-Winning Motivator #123)

July 11, 2016

Our soul winning passage from the Word of God today is Ephesians 4:4-6 which reads: “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

Our soul winning quote today is from Andrew Murray. He said: “The man who mobilizes the Christian church to pray will make the greatest contribution to world evangelization in history.”

Our soul winning devotional is part 106 of our series titled “What Evangelism Is” from Dave Earley and David Wheeler.

Today, we are looking at Part 3 of Ten Reasons to Plant a Church

3. “The Single Most Effective Evangelistic Methodology Under Heaven Is Planting New Churches”

That statement was made several decades ago by Peter Wagner, president of the Global Harvest Ministries, and it is as true today as it has ever been. For example, one American denomination recently found that 80 percent of its converts came to Christ in churches less than two years old. Further, baptism rates for new churches are three- to ten-times higher than existing churches.

New churches reach lost people more effectively than existing churches. Churches that are more than 15 years of age win an average of only three people to Christ per year for every 100 church members. Churches between three and 15 years old conversely win an average of five people to Christ per year for every 100 church members. But churches less than three years of age win an average of 10 people to Christ per year for every 100 church members. Truly, when the church exhales churches it inhales converts.
