Steve Maser is the manager of the Encore Fellows program of the Social Venture Partners (SVP) of Portland Oregon - it's their mission to team up to do good. It's a new model that's been put together to help non profit organizations find the funding, learn better business practices, and work with government entities in a collaborative way.

Previously, it's been very competitive for limited funds as government entities have their own agendas. SVP's mission is to work more collaboratively to connect and engage individuals, help them make the greatest impact with their philanthropic giving and volunteering. The also fund and strengthen nonprofits and invest in collaborative solutions, so those with a common cause can align their efforts and go farther, together.

Steve's job is to manage the professionals who would like to help nonprofits with running different aspects their businesses. Many of the 'fellows' he works with are business professionals who are transitioning into retirement and want to serve. Steve finds funding to pay the fellow and then teams them up with the nonprofit that needs their expertise.

He serves as a match maker for experienced business professionals with a depth of knowledge and expertise and the nonprofits that are need of help in that particular skill set. They work with people who have a commitment to the social change, people who want to give back.
