Building Business Community for Veterans

September 24, 2014

Cindy Hooker of GoldDog Consulting started out life feeling a bit scattered and like she didn't fit in. She took the plunge and joined the Navy, and that gave her the structure and equipment to find direction in her life and her business.

Today, Cindy uses her business and human resources experience to help returning veterans find their place in corporate America. She finds many struggle with translating the military jargon into language that hiring managers understand. She also finds that many of those hiring managers don't understand the types of job experience veterans have developed and how to connect that to their job descriptions.

Cindy has a set of programs and products to help individual veterans and with the hiring managers.

Cindy is dedicated to building business community for veterans and others. She's created a program called Positive PDX where she invites self-employed professionals to get together monthly with others to connect and network and learn from each other. The goal is to build a community safety net for veterans to plug into.
