How to Deliver a TED Talk

If I had to guess, it’s highly likely that you’ve watched a TED talk. However, if you haven’t they are short presentations devoted to sharing compelling ideas in the areas of technology, entertainment, and design.  It is a very selective process to be chosen to deliver a talk, and in addition, the presenters spend considerable amount of time preparing for the talks.  So, for the most part, they are very compelling and inspiring presentations delivered by people that are very passionate about their ideas.

I invited Jeremy Donovan, author of “How to Deliver  TED Talk†because he, like me, believes that teaching this skill is critically important, not only for established professionals, but also for a younger generation who often struggle to express themselves verbally.  Both Jeremy and I believe that the ability to communicate effectively in-person, face-to-face, the ability to get your ideas heard, particularly in this very noisy world, is a skill necessary for success.

Jeremey Donovan is Group Vice President of Marketing at Gartner Inc., the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company with $1.6 billion in annual revenue. He leads  a global team of 50+ exceptional individuals responsible for digital marketing, field marketing, and marketing analytics.

During his career, he has held a variety of general management roles in the semiconductor industry and the information services business. He has led successful teams focused on product strategy, new product development, market research, marketing, mergers & acquisitions, and product management. However, outside of his regular day job, like me, he is passionate about writing and speaking about public speaking.
