The dream of happily ever after is one many young girls have almost from infancy. Girls dream of falling in love, finding their Prince, getting married, having babies, and living happily ever after like in the fairy stories. But how many of those dreams young girls have about relationships are really THEIR dreams, and how many have instead been programmed into them to want by society, religion, and men - especially for young black girls and black women? I think there is a major disconnect between what girls want, who girls are, and what black women are allowed/encourged to be in relation to men, even in 2016.
