SluffCast Episode 29: I’m A Pirate

September 02, 2016

We have a special guest this week! We talk to the author of the new YA novel “Adventures of Captain Xoey and the Mystery of the Djinn”, Laura Dasnoit! We badgered her about what led her to be a novelist, her time as a Private Detective and how she hurt herself as a wrestler.
Everybody hates the heel.
This week Bill, Chris Dumoulin, and Jim discuss these topics: Interview with Laura – Female Video Game Leads – The Death Of Gene Wilder

Female Video Game Leads
Laura posted on Facebook last week about not liking to play video games – specifically RPGs – without a female lead. While this trend is getting better with releases such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, and Overwatch among others, there’s still a bit of ground to cover.

The Death Of Gene Wilder
Sadly, this week we lost one of the best comedians of a generation. We discuss his work and Adam wrote a very eloquent tribute.

Jim Explains A Thing – LARPing Edition
Jim doesn’t know much about nerd culture so in an attempt to teach him we’ve asked him to try his best to explain some things. This week he explains LARPing. Enjoy!
