SluffCast Episode 21: The Bestisode

June 29, 2016

We were all set up to create the absolute best episode of the SluffCast ever last night but I couldn’t record. As I sat and listened to my baby daughter cry, as she’d been doing all day, I decided that I couldn’t leave my wife to do it alone and had to shut it down. It’s a good thing too because Jim had already ducked out to hang with his parents and K was attempting not to fall asleep at the wheel on his way home from work.
So instead of a normal episode we have for you, the Bestisode! This episode contains some of our favorite conversations to date along with some never before heard outtakes. Seriously, they’re insanely funny.
THIS is the episode to listen to if you want to know what the show is about.
Without further ado, this week Bill, Chris Dumoulin, Kris Price and Jim discuss these topics: Kids Shows – Dead Men Make No Video Games – Camping!

Dead Men Make No Games (30:30)

The Devs behind No Man’s Sky are now getting death threats for delaying the game. While it’s sort of par for the course these days showing history with female creators, Fez creator Phil Fish, and even Notch, the creator of Minecraft. But what’s the point? Sending these types of messages only makes gamers look dumb and extremely entitled.
This sort of action isn’t relegated to gaming, though. This is an issue across all “geek” culture and brings about the topic of entitlement and the idea that a consumer has the ability to speak into a creation not their own. When we love media so much and devote so much of our time to it we should be able to have discourse with its creator in this day and age. When the discourse becomes an expectation of change, however, it may be time to take a step back.
