Have we lost Rites of Passage? – Throwback Episode - Skilled Gentlemen Podcast

June 21, 2017

Across the world there are cultures have different ways that they ceremonially bring their children into adulthood.  This is called the rite of passage.  However, we live in a world that protects our children and adults from feeling pain and hurt feelings.  Are there ways that we still have rite of passage ceremony?  Are there ways that we can make our children appreciate their place in nature and in society?  My argument is that the struggle has to be hard to make the reward to be sweet.
I dive into the history and the cultural aspects of the rite of passage that still exist today.  I also get real personal with my plans to have my own ceremony for both myself and my son.  The journey should be a struggle because you deserve to feel proud of your accomplishments.  Join in the conversation by getting involved in the social media and on the forum!  You should plan your own passage and have your own journey.

What can we do to have a Rite of Passage?

There is a purpose for this, what are the purpose of these rites of passage?
What are some of the most common ones around?
Is it ever too late to go through one yourself?
How am I going to go through my own passage?
