SCH 124 Eight Self-Care Hacks for Handling Caregiver Burnout

November 04, 2022

You might think you’re handling caregiver burnout just fine if you’re a caregiver. But maybe you aren’t. Here’s what to look for.

  • Welcome to the Inspire Me Monday Community! The link-up opens Sundays at 4 pm, Arizona time.

Ever Heard of Caregiver Burnout?

Some people might call it compassion fatigue. Others might have it and not even know. That would be me, back when my husband’s cancer relapse catapulted me into the world of caregiving. Because I didn’t recognize I suffered from caregiver burnout, I didn’t take any steps to deal with it.

I’ve since discovered how our bodies deal with negative stress. They produce cortisol. And cortisol can ruin our health. I’ll share a series of podcasts for caregivers to celebrate National Family Caregiver Month. Even if you’re not a family caregiver, listen in. You will discover ways to help and support the unsung heroes who care for family members.

If you’ve ever had a season of caregiving, I’d love to hear about your experience. Did you ever feel burnt out? What did you do? Did you feel isolated?
