Audre Lorde was a self-described “Black, lesbian, feminist, mother, poet warrior.” She became known for her passionate writings on lesbian feminism and racial issues. As a black, gay woman, Audre identified with multiple minority groups, but she refused to be defined by any single aspect of her identity.
