How the U.S. and E.U. Can Win Against China

October 01, 2021

This week saw the launch of a new joint program between the U.S. and the E.U.: the Technology and Trade Council, a body meant to co-ordinate efforts on tech, trade, and their intersection with national strategy while strengthening trans-Atlantic ties. We were lucky enough to host a virtual event on the sidelines of the meeting, featuring frequent Octavian contributor Emily de La Bruyère, as well as Dave Hanke, a visiting fellow at the National Security Institute, a think tank at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School, an Dr. Roslyn Layton, senior vice president of Strand Consult, a visiting researcher at Aalborg University, Copenhagen, and founder of China Tech Threat. The panel discussed how to develop a truly Atlanticist strategy around sensitive industries and data protection as we deal with China’s rise.
