News Espresso: Hong Kong police urge students to surrender, more testimony in Trump impeachment inquiry, 4 killed in California shooting

November 18, 2019

Hong Kong police are calling on anti-government protesters barricaded inside the city's Polytechnic University to surrender and face justice. A police commander described the protesters as rioters and criminals who must face the consequences of their acts. Police say they arrested more than 150 people ages 13 to 54 over the weekend on charges including burglary, rioting and possessing offensive weapons. Eight more witnesses are testifying this week in the House impeachment probe against President Trump. The week's most anticipated witness testimony may come Wednesday, with Ambassador Gordon Sondland, who spoke multiple times to Trump about Ukraine policy. Police in Fresno, California, say four people were killed when "unknown suspects" sneaked into a backyard filled with people at a football watching party Sunday evening and opened fire. Six others were hurt. Police say all the victims were Asian men.
