The lost sheep parable is similar to the woman and the lost coin, which I used in the last Daily Progress post. At least in so much as it talks about “rejoicing” when we act in harmony with Theos and Creation.

Unlike the coin, however, the sheep has the ability to act on its own. It may be tangled in brush, or stuck in a narrow place in the rocks. But it can turn around; it can pull away from the undergrowth.

We, like the sheep, can make choices.

Today, may we make good ones.

And we will all rejoice.

Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.†Luke 15:4-6
