Shiri takes the opportunity to talk about one of her biggest fandoms of the last few years, award-winning British drama My Mad Fat Diary, an excellent example of how to portray mental illness well, not to mention one of the best representations of a "Plus" character on television, ever.

One of Chen's biggest fandoms is this popular show in the Avatar the Last Airbender franchise. She happily stood in line to get a signature and take a photo with the voice of Korra, and big Random Fandom Podcast fave, Janet Varney! Shiri loves that talented actress quite a lot herself, as she is part of Shiri's biggest fandom to date - the Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast. So we both geek out pretty hard over her...

✦ Our problematic Faves Panel:
Looking back to those fandoms we used to love, not always being aware at the time of all the problematic areas, culturally, ethically, etc.
We talked about the Nick Spencer’s Captain America, as an example of a plot-line that just fell flat, despite the creators' hype; Shiri voiced her disagreement with the theory of one of the panelists' regarding hidden racism in 'ships; and Shiri goes off about representation of fat people in media... again.
