NEW ORLEANS – Welcome back, Aisling Cuffe.
After missing the entire 2014-15 cycle due to a stress fracture in her back, Stanford’s Cuffe returned to competitive racing last Friday at the Washington Invitational and made her presence felt. Running in her second meet of the season – first against elite competition – Cuffe won the women’s 6K race by three seconds over Oregon’s Alli Cash.
Cuffe and her Cardinal teammates won't race this weekend, but return to action next weekend at Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. The last time Cuffe ran the 6K tract at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park, she placed 21st overall at the 2012 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.
We caught up with Cuffe earlier this week and spoke with her about her return to racing, the road to recovery and much more.
