Dr. Philip Zimbardo on Heroism

May 07, 2013

Dr. Philip Zimbardo is a psychologist and a professor emeritus at Stanford University and president of the Heroic Imagination Project. Zimbardo is particularly known for his famous 1971 Stanford prison study, an experiment which was scheduled to occur for 2 weeks, but in fact was cancelled on the sixth day as it spun out of control. On top of that, he is author of an impressive list of books including The Lucifer Effect, The Time Paradox and The Time Cure.

Dr. Zimbardo was also president of the American Psychological Association, and is currently raising funds for his latest project with Bill Roller called "Group Dynamics and the New Heroism", an important work supported by The Psychology Webinar Group, which will explore and research the conditions which allow people to obey their conscience.
