Fantasy Hockey X — DFS Episode Recap

April 22, 2015

Thanks to Michael Clifford and Christopher Pacheco as always for all of their help with the show. We run into the playoffs in the latest installment of Fantasy Hockey X! Next week will be our last first run episode other than a few occasional episodes spotlighting the latest (Draft, Free Agency, etc.). However, the focus will continue on Daily Fantasy Hockey.

That is and always will be the goal. Yes we will delve into dynasty, rotisserie, etc. but the first focus will be daily. It is why we cannot wait to get to work on the Fantasy Hockey Guide for this site. The fun part of the podcast is that it leads up to what we are up to on the site.

It has truthfully been a really fun year. The first full year in DFS Hockey was quite the challenge and my co-hosts made me feel quite at home. I cannot thank the guys enough and the listeners for that matter. It has been quite a successful year in more ways than one.
Fantasy Hockey X
So what did we talk about on Tuesday night's episode? First off, we sat back and talked about Tuesday night's four game slate with the usual scoring updates, commentary, and more. The best part is it was nice to just let it rip on the fly. Though that is normally what we do on every episode, it was even nicer to have a little more time. Lighter slates let you collect your thoughts. It also makes for a faster show apparently too as the downloaded link below reflects an 80 minute endeavor. Normally we are in the 110 to 120 minute range with archive.

Anyone can sit there and talk daily fantasy hockey but our goal is just to give it to you straight with as little filler as possible. If we come off too blunt, I apologize but it is better to know what is going on then being left in the dark as far as our reasoning. We may not be right all the time but I'd like to think most of the time.

We even looked ahead a little bit and talked about some of the favorites and if they really are or not. The New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens debates alone are worth listening to. Those were not the only things we touched on but it is that type of banter you do not find on other fantasy hockey shows.

Daily Look Ahead

Goalies

Devan Dubnyk (MIN) -- After a shutout and a rather easy one, you expect Dubnyk to be more challenged. Minnesota has the Blues' number but can they now take that 3-1 lead?

Carey Price (MTL) -- Montreal has a chance to close out Ottawa and Price has been very good giving up just three goals in the last two games. Can Ottawa pot a few on Price to make this somewhat of a series?

Henrik Lundqvist (NYR) -- Lundqvist has won three straight road games with a save percentage of over .960. Pittsburgh has to be feeling it now.

Defensemen

Erik Karlsson (OTT) -- It is time to put up or shut up for Karlsson. There is no margin for error and no tomorrow if Ottawa loses. The urgency will be intriguing to see how or what happens.

Jacob Trouba (WPG) -- Trouba or even Dustin Byfuglien could be fun choices from the blueline. Winnipeg also faces the end of their season as well.

Forwards

Rick Nash (NYR) -- A contrarian pick's special as we figure the left winger should do something at some juncture. Hey, why not?

Zach Parise (MIN) -- Parise had two points in Game 3 and if he is going to find spots to sit in the zone, he could do it again in Game 4.

Blake Wheeler (WPG) -- If Winnipeg is to survive, they need a guy like Wheeler who often produces spurts of big offensive numbers. Look at Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd as well. These are pretty good and reasonable as far as prices.

Corey Perry (ANA) -- If there is one guy that can drive all of Winnipeg bonkers, it is "Patient Zero". It does help that Perry is scoring at a very hot clip over his last dozen games or so. This makes the work we do a bit easier. Spend spend spend!
