Oh What A Crazy Tuesday Night!

March 05, 2015

There is just something about Tuesday night that is unique for fantasy hockey fans. This will be short and sweet but once again, Christopher Pacheco, Michael Clifford, and myself ran with it on another episode of Fantasy Hockey X! We often joke that something strange and wacky happens every week. Yet it is very true. Ultimately the hope is that people learn from us as we ride the agony and ecstasy of DFS Hockey.

As always, the commentary is lively but within the podcast, there are many fantasy hockey nuggets and lessons. When you have been in the business as long as the three of us, a good bit of wisdom exists. If all else fails, there is always the banter.
About Tuesday Night
Anyone who is anyone quickly realized when they entered into GPP's on Tuesday, there was a huge knuckle puck when Ben Bishop was injured in warm-ups. Literally, Twitter went ablaze with craziness and mass panic. Fortunately because most daily leagues lock a minute before game time, there was a very slim window to act. Quite a few people nailed it, switched to Andrei Vasilevskiy, and hit it big!

The thing was not all was lost for those who were stuck with Bishop. We heard lots of stories on Twitter of those who played the ProjectRoto Cheat Sheet and still won some money anyway. That is some pretty impressive stuff. Daily fantasy hockey really does involve the body of work in a big night slate (10+ games). With shorter slates, if you are stuck with a player who does not play, trouble ensues! We saw it too many times.

Then there was a good, spirited debate on Goalie Value Threshold (GVT). It is almost an art form to be able to execute a strategy involving goalies. After that, we used the various price per point theory on DraftKings ($1500), DraftDay, and FanDuel ($1,700).

Something that people often do not realize is how much work is done as far as prep for the show. We are constantly talking and answering questions during the week. A lot goes into it and without social media, the podcast just is not the same.

Later in the show, we ran into the circus that was the Florida Panthers goaltending. There was an early injury to Roberto Luongo and then a later injury to backup Al Montoya. As you can imagine, this set off all sorts of fantasy chaos and yet the band err Montoya ultimately played on until......

That's right! Luongo came back with one of the quickest changes out of street clothes in the history of hockey. Montoya will likely be out several weeks at least with a lower body injury. Hopefully the LBI is not ultimately season ending because that was playing with fire.

We finally touched on the incredulous Andrew Hammond story because honestly the young player was barely cutting it in the AHL. Yes the Binghamton Senators are a rather bad team and 14 points out of a playoff berth but could you tell me if you really expected a half dozen game stretch like we have seen then you are a better person than moi.

Coming soon will be a segment on the show with daily points per 60 and much more! Thanks again for reading.
