My family and I have recently been going back and watching all the Star Wars movies. There is a scene in Episode II: Attack of the Clones in which Obi Wan Kenobi has a brief run in with a person in a club. The person asks him if he wants to buy some death sticks. My son asked me, "What are death sticks?" As usual, I had no idea. Therefore, I went straight out and did some research. So, here is what I found!Basic FactsIn the scene I mentioned above, Obi Wan Kenobi does his classic "jedi mind trick" and with a wave of the and, convinces this poor lad to "go home and rethink his life." But, what he was selling was interesting.Death sticks, as they were referred to, were in a word: drugs. It was an intense hallucinogen that was very addictive. People who consumed this drug experienced a very distorted view of reality. Along with this synthetic "high" came grave side effect. A "High" PriceAccording to Wookiepedia, every time a person partook of the drug, time was taken from their life. And, because it was very addictive, this could spell disaster for the person. It was produced on the Outer Rim and shipped into bustling places like Courasant, where we see it offered to our own Master Obi Wan.
