This episode I’m talking to Daniel Becerra, co-founder and CEO of Buffalo Grid. Buffalo Grid are on a mission to bring mobile power and internet connectivity to the off-grid world. They were founded in 2011 by Phil Schluter and Daniel Becerra following an idea to use kinetic energy, through a bicycle, to provide power to off-grid villages in Uganda. After three years of development, and some fascinating trips to some of the world’s most challenging new markets, Buffalo Grid have developed a solar Hub which acts as a platform for delivering basic services to the places that need them most. Daniel has some fascinating insights from a start-up dealing with a substantial third-world problem.

This was a wide ranging discussion about off-grid communities, the impact of mobile phones in the developing world and the challenges faced by a startup working at the end of a dirt track. It's a great introduction to an amazing company.
