#4 Product DNA + Transparency w/ Jessi Baker of Provenance

February 24, 2015

This episode we talk to Jessi Baker about the anarchy of globalisation, importance of supply chain transparency (and how a data solution could help solve it) and the implications of blockchain technology. Jessi's service Provenance is a platform for product stories, so it all gets a bit meta!

Provenance is an online service that allows you to discover the people, processes and materials behind products. It was started in 2013 by Jessi Baker to shed light on the hidden systems behind the things we buy. The platform is currently in BETA as the Provenance team work with 7,000 makers to understand the potential of their service. And the team expect to launch the site publicly in mid-2015.

Jessi has spent most of her career trying to understand how companies can better communicate what’s in their products. Provenance is the most recent chapter in her quest for transparency around what’s in the stuff that clutters our world.

If you want to check out the work that Jessi and the Provenance team are doing, head over to their website or follow them on Twitter.
