Pray Every Day

Psalm 52

May 11, 2021

Today’s Scripture:

Why do you boast in evil, you mighty man?The faithfulness of God endures all day long.2 Your tongue devises destruction,Like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit.3 You love evil more than good,Lies more than speaking what is right. Selah4 You love all words that devour,You deceitful tongue.

5 [c]But God will break you down forever; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent,And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah6 The righteous will see and fear,And they will laugh at him, saying,7 “Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge,But trusted in the abundance of his richesAnd was strong in [d]his evil desire.”

8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;I trust in the faithfulness of God forever and ever.9 I will praise You forever, because You have done it,And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.

Elizabeth Reynolds Turnage

I'm honored to have Elizabeth Turnage author of Recovery to Restoration: 60 Meditations for Finding Peace & Hope in Crisis as a sponsor this month.

It is not a matter of if, but when, a crisis will break into our lives. Whether it’s a natural disaster or relational disaster, a broken wrist or a broken marriage, a baby miscarried or justice miscarried, crisis thrusts us into a season of recovery. The journey of recovery can arouse many emotions: shock, fear, anxiety, doubt, grief, anger.

Elizabeth Reynolds Turnage soothes us in our distress with the surpassing peace and sure hope of the gospel. In each brief meditation, she offers Scripture, relevant stories, biblical encouragement, prayers, and suggested music, all of which point us to our deepest hope: God has written a story that takes us through recovery to restoration. God has begun his redemption work in us through Jesus, and one day, Jesus will return to restore all broken things. In that day, we will know the full joy of our restoration hope. Open this book and begin your journey from recovery to restoration.
